Privacy & security

Your conversations are yours.

You record sensitive moments, so you should know exactly what happens to the audio. Here it is, in plain words. The legal details are in the privacy policy.

Your audio’s journey

  1. On your phone

Audio is saved on your phone first. With no connection, it waits there safely.

  2. To our servers

It is sent over an encrypted connection and stored in our private, protected cloud storage.

  3. Transcription

A specialised service (AssemblyAI or, for some languages, Gladia) turns the audio into text.

  4. AI analysis

The text is processed by OpenAI to create the title, summary, answers and documents. We don’t use your data to train models.

Before sending anything to these services we ask for your permission, and you can withdraw it at any time in Settings.

Where data is processed

Some providers process data in the United States. In those cases GDPR safeguards apply: the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission.

How long we keep it

  • Transcripts stay available for 90 days. The ones you “protect” stay until you delete them. With an account, you get a reminder before they expire.
  • Audio stays with its transcript and is deleted together with it.
  • If you delete your account you have 30 days to change your mind; then the data is erased.

You’re in control

  • Delete a single recording or your whole account, in the app
  • Download a copy of all your data
  • Share only via a link you can revoke at any time
  • Usage statistics are only enabled if you agree

What we don’t do

  • We don’t sell your data
  • We don’t show ads based on your conversations
  • We don’t use your recordings for anything other than the service

Recording other people

Your recordings also contain other people’s voices. Let them know you are recording: it’s fair, often required, and Capta reminds you every time.
